Matt Hartman

Matt Hartman serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Merlin Group, where he is focused on identifying, accelerating, and scaling the delivery of transformative cyber technologies to the public sector and critical industries. Prior to this role, Matt spent the last five years serving as the senior career cybersecurity official at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) within the Department of Homeland Security.

At CISA, Matt was responsible for addressing the nation’s most significant cyber threats and vulnerabilities through persistent collaboration with industry, U.S. government agencies, and international partners. Matt played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s cybersecurity strategy and transforming federal cybersecurity through the development and implementation of key technology delivery programs, operational directives, and government-wide policies. During his tenure, Matt served as CISA’s senior representative to the Technology Modernization Fund Board, the Federal Acquisition Security Council, the Cyber Safety Review Board, and other cyber-focused interagency bodies.
